So, I'm kind of a Stephen King dork. I'm not sure how else to put it. I love reading his books; I've read multiple ones multiple times. Whenever I talk about them, I get excited and can go on forever in really intense conversations. I'm sure that's true of a lot of people, and I'm not trying to say that it makes me special or anything.
Although, not everyone that likes him decides to make a blog about it, so I guess there's something special, no, different, about me.
The point of this blog is somewhat similar to that of the recent movie (and somewhat less recent book) Julie & Julia, but rather than cooking (and blogging) my way through a delightful cook's cookbook, I'm reading (and blogging) my way through a talented 'wordslinger's' set of works.
Wont that be fun?
And no, I'm not one of those pretentious, socially saturated bloggers who put their thoughts out on the internet just because they think that for some unfathomable reason people want to know what they think about anything and everything. Well, not entirely. The main reason is that I though it would be fun to try to get through all of his works, and to keep a kind of journal to track how I got. And then the idea of Julie & Julia popped into my head, and I figured 'Why not put it online? If other people want to read, they can. And it could be fun to see what other people have to say about his books, and have a kind of discussion.' It could bring up ideas and things I've never noticed about the works before. Plus, there are pros and no cons. If you don't want to read, please, find some much better way to spend your time. But if you dig the idea, and want to share too, please do. It would be great to have people comment on the books I'm talking about on those posts that are talking about them, and while any comments are welcome, it would be much less confusing if people didn't post a comment talking about how The Stand and Cell have similar themes if the blog on which the comment is made is talking about Under The Dome. But I'm sure that the microscopic 'all' mentioned earlier knows better.
Some of the stories I'll be reading for the first time, and some are ones I'm much more familiar with. I have a feeling that this means that I will be taking copious notes while reading. So maybe I'll take up reading with a pad? I don't know that I could bring myself to scribble in my books...especially not some of the pristine copies willed to me by my late grandmother. So a pad it is.
I wont be starting this blog immediately (not that I currently have any readers, at 11:02 pm on March the 13th), because I'm currently reading a book, and don't want to start an entry in the middle of a book. It's On Writing, by the way, that I'm currently in. The Dark Tower series wont come for a while, I've just finished that (for the third time) and also just finished Just After Sunset.
But once I finish On Writing, I'll start something new, and commence the blog. One of my coworkers suggests IT to be the next book I read, and so far I can't think of anything that would suggest otherwise.
So, yeah. That's the gist of it. If you like it, great. It'll be a pleasure. And if not, thank you for reading thus far.
And above all, have a good night.
'Til next time.
